Dalian Linton NC Machine Co. Ltd./Linton Crystal Technologies Launch R&D Center, Grow 4M Crystal

Rochester, NY— On February 14, Dalian Linton NC Machine Co. Ltd., of Dalian, China, and Linton Crystal Technologies (LCT) of Rochester, N.Y., celebrated the launch of a new Research and Development Center with the successful growth of a 4-meter crystal. This is the largest crystal grown on site by Dalian Linton. It was pulled in a Czochralski (CZ) process crystal grower designed by LCT and using the company’s control system and process. The project was undertaken at the request of customer Huantai, who sought both furnace testing and employee training.

“We felt the development of an R&D Center was an important extension of the personal training and service we already offer our customers,” explains Todd Barnum, COO of Linton Crystal Technologies. “At the Center, a customer can do anything with a furnace they would do in their factory – or would like to do with a furnace in their factory. They can test and try new things without worrying about interrupting their own growing process and can get help and guidance from us every step of the way.”

Linton Crystal Technologies offers customers in the solar and semiconductor industries comprehensive solutions for growing ingots. This includes design and manufacture of furnaces customized to meet their unique crystal specifications, as well as research and development experiences, employee training, process knowledge testing and spare/retrofit parts.

“By growing ingots in one of our own furnaces using Linton’s controls and processes, we can best demonstrate our combined technology and process expertise,” explains Robin Shou, sales and marketing manager of Linton. “Growing ingots ourselves ultimately helps us develop better and quicker responses to customers’ individual requirements.”

Linton Crystal Technologies is the world leader in the design, development and manufacture of equipment for producing monocrystalline ingots for the semiconductor and solar industries. The company specializes in silicon and produces equipment for materials such as germanium and gallium arsenide. They also provide technical support, process engineering support and replacement parts to help clients get businesses off the ground, improve productivity and continue to innovate.
